Platypodia and foot curve. Treatment.
Naturally muscles and ligaments support the feet so that they serve as shock absorbers while walking and “quenched” vertical load that is associated with human bipedal gait. Upon weakening and disorders of muscular-ligamentous apparatus, flattening and subsidence of the feet occur. In case of dystonia, where some muscle groups are affected by hypertonia, and others by hypotonia, inward deviation of the foot takes place resulting in a club foot, valgus or varus deformity.
Platypodia causes foot arch flattening with longitudinal or transversal plane strain. Valgus deformity is a term for outward angulation of a heel, the opposite condition, such as inward deviation of a heel is called varus. At the same time, the muscles of the foot, lower leg, thigh and lower back are exposed to excessive tension since the load is not typical for them.
There are 3 degrees of platypodia:
Different types of foot curvature not only impair gait, but also cause a number of unpleasant and sometimes severe consequences:
Many people believe that in order to correct the shape of the foot it is enough to walk barefoot, wear special insoles or quality orthopedic shoes. Unfortunately, it is not true. It is much more important to pay attention to the correct motor activity:
Please bear in mind that platypodia in children under 5 years is quite normal, but this does not mean that we should not prevent its development. It is important at any age, especially during body’s formation, to teach the muscles function properly. For this puspose, a comprehensive program based on Dr.Bubnovsky’s method was developed aimed at strengthening the body muscles and eliminating muscle dystonia. Thus, the body will be able to recover and dispose of the problem without drugs administration, insoles, braces, physical therapy and dangerous surgeries.
